Jude 1:1-3 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. NIV
He calls you! He loves you! He keeps you! As you read this pause to embrace the reality that you have the call of God on your life! Have you ever had anybody tell you that personally? How impactful is it for your somebody to tell you personally that you have a call of God on your life? How much more powerful is it for God to tell you this?! God says right here in his Word that you have a call of God on your life! Receive that!
You’re called by God and you’re loved by God! In fact you are called because you’re loved not because you’re gifted.
You are called by God, loved by God and kept by God! These are things God has given and provided to you. There is something we all need to understand about how God gives to us. He gives as a possession - Ex 6:8
It is the duty of every believer to contend for the faith that has been entrusted to our lives.
The Land is yours now go get it! The promise is yours now go get it! Salvation of your friends and family members is yours now go get it!
After I became a Christian my mom and I decided to believe for my dad to come to Christ. He had never been a church attender and was purposefully offensive to Christians especially if they tried to share Christ with him. I could go on and on about where he was in life but the bottom line is that he was not a likely person to become a Christian.
Every Friday for lunch my mom and I would fast and pray. We didn’t live in the same city but it didn’t matter. We were praying and standing in agreement for God to draw him into God’s love. Slowly we saw steps in the right direction that were many times met with what seemed to be a total loss of ground. Finally the day came where he surrendered his life to Christ!
D.L. Moody made a list of 100 friends which he prayed for faithfully to come to know Christ. 96 people on that list came to know Christ while he was alive. That’s not a bad percentage but it gets even better as the remaining four accepted Christ at his funeral! WHO ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR?
We are the gates through which God’s Kingdom comes.
Josh 3:5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.” NIV
