 TRUE TREASURE:  ALIVE IN CHRIST

DISCUSSION GUIDE

UNDERSTANDING THE SEASON: Our pursuit of God has, in many ways, been reduced to the pursuit of asking God to give us worldly treasure. The Kingdom of God is a sacrificial Kingdom that is built on the sacrifice of Jesus and the continued sacrifice of God’s sons and daughters.

Isaiah 33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

Kingdom Treasure is found in a deeper pursuit of the things that truly matter. This true treasure of God’s Kingdom is central to the understanding that we are blessed to be a blessing!

We want to start our group meetings making room for conversation that brings confirmation that God is speaking to us all as we discuss what we are hearing from the Lord as a family:

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. Where are you reading in your Bible and what are you sensing from God?

2. Do you agree with this statement and why or why not: “It’s more tragic to be alive and not know why than to be dead and not know life?”

Habakkuk 2:4 “...the person in right standing before God through loyal and steady believing is fully alive, really alive.” MSG

Many people stop living long before they’re buried because they settle for mere existence. God’s desire is for each of us to explore and enjoy his eternal purposes for our lives.

Elvis Presley’s wife, Priscilla once said in an interview, “Elvis never came to terms with who he was meant to be or what his purpose in life was. He thought he was here for a reason, maybe to preach, maybe to serve, maybe to save, maybe to care for people. That agonizing desire was always with him and he knew he wasn’t fulfilling it. So he’d go on stage and he wouldn’t have to think about it.”

How tragic to go through life so celebrated, loved and envied by so many people and never even know what you were here for.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

3. What are some ways we can devote ourselves in our daily lives to the eternal purposes of God after we surrender our hearts to Christ?

4. Have you ever had a sense of direction you felt was from God? Explain

Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” NIV

The Message Bible puts it this way, “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.”

We bring God’s Presence To Real Life in every realm of society and on every level of community.

We Bring GP2RL Action Point:

Make time this week to read your Bible and listen to what God desires to speak in your personal places of prayer.
