Discussion Guide for Community Leaders

Psalm 24:7 Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! (NAS)

We are the gates through which the King of glory enters into our world. During this season we are learning how we don’t wait for a move of God. We are the move of God to the world around us.

We bring God’s presence to real life

in every realm of society and

on every level of community.

As we move toward a more basic understanding of the message, mission, and ministry of Jesus we come to a clearer understanding that we were born to be a gateway for the King.

God’s plan is for us to hear his voice together as a family. This is why we start each group with the first and primary question:

DISCUSSION QUESTION:

1.    Where are you reading in your Bible and what are you sensing from God?

THE HOUSE OF GOD:

Gen 28:16-17 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”  NIV

The house of God is the gate of heaven!

DISCUSSION QUESTION:

2. What is the difference between the house of God in the Old Testament and the house of God in the New Testament?

The Bible makes it very clear that we are the house of God.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. NIV

1 Timothy 3:15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. NIV

1 Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? NIV

Genesis 28 clearly says the house of God is the gate of heaven. This further substantiates the reality that we, as the house of God, are commissioned to open the gates so Jesus can come and his Kingdom can be established on earth.

Psalm 24:7 Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! (NAS)

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

3. What does it take for us to be able to more intentionally pay close attention to what God is wanting to do through our lives on a daily basis?

4. Prayer is a great way to give God access to our world. Who can we pray for in your life and how can we pray for them together as we conclude?
