Recently we began to look at the idea of the Tower of Babel from Genesis 11. They used the same language and the same words working to make a name for themselves by building a tower as high as the heaven.
Babel today isn’t a physical tower, but rather it is about intellectual architecture.
Group think around any towering idea is a babel. Anybody who doesn’t come under that towering idea is canceled. Today we see this same spirit at work in the “Cancel Culture.” There is this common language born from certain towering ideas. If you don’t align your words and language with this tower of ideas then you’re canceled as insignificant in response to these supreme perspectives.
It’s as if the church is slowly falling asleep while the world is getting woke. There are Babels that have been erected in society. The term, “transgender” used to be controversial but now is mainstream. We’re even having a conversation now about children having surgical procedures because gender isn’t determined by the sex they’re born with. How has this come about? Babels!
Paul warned Timothy of this day:
2 Timothy 4:1-3 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. NIV
Is the church today spiritually well with deep convictions about what is true? In many ways, the church has slowly started to embrace toxic perspectives that originate with people who don’t follow Jesus. You should not be following somebody who isn’t spiritually alive, doesn’t have the Spirit of God & doesn’t believe the word of God. And you certainly should never become one of their evangelists promoting their agenda.
Progressive Christianity of our day works to accommodate everyone’s views except for God’s. The cultural narrative is trending against our faith and against our freedom and we must wake up. We have so pollinated our theology with worldly philosophy that we don’t know where theology ends and philosophy begins.
Woke Christianity, progressive Christianity, enlightened Christianity; it’s all about a tolerance instead of repentance Christianity. Jesus wasn’t some effeminate sheep stroker who just perpetuated ideas of world peace and harmony to humanity. They didn't kill Jesus because he loved the poor. They crucified him because he's politically incorrect and unbending when it comes to the truth.
Don’t just hear what everybody else is hearing and respond how everybody else is responding
Get with God and discern that which is true and false.
If a piano is going to be at its best it needs to be tuned on a regular basis. If we are going to be our best, we must practice being in tune with the Father’s ideas on a regular basis.
Kenneth Hagin stated, “The mind doesn’t stay renewed any more than the hair stays combed.”
As we renew our mind with the Word, our lives will be transformed. Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to the pattern of this world.
It’s great if you don’t believe like the world because God’s Word is true but you should also not behave like the world because God’s Word is true!
We must be unbending when it comes to the truth. But please hear me we can be unbending without being unloving or unkind.
We Bring GP2RL Action Point:
Memorize Romans 12:2 this week: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. ESV
