Blog: Woke Babylonian Culture

It is nearly impossible to keep our children from being indoctrinated in America by woke ideology. Our focus in this season is to explore the reality of how WE ARE WHAT WE EAT. What we process determines what we produce.

What is woke ideology and where does it come from? The progressive left promotes the idea of being woke as being enlightened and inclusive all in the name of love.

The Bible has a few things to say about love. 1 Corinthians 13 is the famously known chapter of love and verse 6 is a very central idea.

1 Corinthians 13:6 (Love) does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. NAS

True love does not rejoice in unrighteous. True love does not delight in or rejoice in that which is offensive to God. True love does not rejoice in the rejection of God’s good and perfect design of male, female, husband and wife. True love does not rejoice in the rejection of truth in any way.

Woke ideology elevates expressive individualism. The greatest evil in a woke society is to hinder someone’s expression of who they believe themselves to be even if that is not tethered to reality.

As followers of Jesus we must remember that true love is tethered to truth.

To rejoice in what is unrighteous is to do the opposite of love and that is in fact, hate.

Isaiah 5:20-21 (The unrighteous) say what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right; that black is white and white is black; bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. 21 Woe to those who are wise and shrewd in their own eyes! TLB

This is speaking of people who are creating their own standard as if they themselves were God. This idea stems all the way back to the Tower of Babel.

The first mention of Babel is the Tower of Babel in the City of Babel. Babel is important theme throughout Bible.

Genesis 11:1-7 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words… 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves… 6 And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech." ESV

This is all about human independence and self-sufficiency apart from God. Social unity and ability to build something gave them a false sense of supremacy. Having the same language, using the same words working to make a name for themselves. Anyone unwilling to use this language or these words coming under the tower of these ideas would be in danger of being canceled by this self-promoted supremacy.

Ultimately in Revelation we read how Babylon is the absolute adversary to Jesus, or truly anti-christ in every way. This is the spirit that is at work in the world behind any and all ideology that sets itself up against God.

1 John 4:1-6 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God…the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already….5 They are from the world; therefore, they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us (speaking of the teaching of God’s Word); whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. ESV

Woke Babylonian culture of our day has produced a “progressive Christianity” that works to accommodate everyone’s views except for God’s. The church is slowly embracing toxic perspectives that originated with people who don’t follow Jesus.

You should not be following somebody who isn’t spiritually alive, doesn’t have the Spirit of God and doesn’t believe in the Word of God. You certainly should never become one of their evangelists promoting their agenda.

Woke Christianity, progressive Christianity, enlightened Christianity: It’s all about a tolerance instead of repentance Christianity.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… NIV

If we’re not careful we get swept downstream with the common ideology of society in our day. We should love God and hate wickedness. True love does not call good evil and evil good. A person who truly loves is a person who does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rather rejoices in truth. Don’t just hear what everybody else is hearing and respond how everybody else is responding.

Get with God and discern that which is true and false.

We must live as convinced and compelled by the truth in all of our ways. When we are spiritually awake our perspective is influenced by the things we see in the spirit this speaks of a transformed mind. Being woke is embracing a perspective that is conformed to the world and influenced by carnal attitudes and pursuits.
