Blog: You Eat All the Time

Just being in the sun gives you Vitamin D. You are built by God to absorb your surroundings physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is why God so specifically directs us to guard our hearts and protect our perspective!

“The undiscerning mind is like the root of a tree. It absorbs whatever it touches even the poison that could kill it.” ~ Master Po

Context really matters! “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future” is more than a cliché statement. This is absolutely true!

1 Kings 11:1-6 Now King Solomon loved many foreign women…from the nations concerning which the LORD had said to the people of Israel, “You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love… 4 For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. Just because you have chemistry doesn’t mean you have destiny. Just because Solomon loved them didn’t make it right. Guard Your Heart! Reserve your inner circle of friendship for people who have a heart for God because you eat all the time.

Neuroscience reveals when people are together their brain waves actually begin to look nearly identical. This is why gathering in God’s presence together as God’s family is enriching to our existence more than we can imagine.

You eat all the time! Make sure you’re at the right table! You need it and your kids need it: prioritize gathering as God’s family. There is a spiritually enriching atmosphere when we purposefully come together.

  • July 12th We The Kingdom Concert at Destiny.

  • July 19th Pastor A.T. begins a Wednesday night class on how to grow deeper in Christ.

  • September 24th will be a Marriage Enrichment Luncheon.

  • October 12-14 will be our Men’s Retreat.

These are all things that are spiritually enriching to our lives and being involved really matters. You eat all the time! Make sure you’re at the right table! Snacking on junk food ruins a good meal.

You cannot afford to be fascinated by the devil. Whatever gets your attention captures your affection. The church needs to break free from the hypnotic trance of our culture = fascinated and captivated things of world.

John Piper said, “One of the main reasons the world & church are consumed by the lust of the flesh is that our lives are intellectually & emotionally disconnected from infinite, soul- staggering grandeur for which we were made…The deepest cure to our pitiful addictions is to be fascinated by the infinite, everlasting, unchanging supremacy of Christ.”

You eat all the time! Make sure you’re at the right table!

Bob Sorge wrote in The Secrets of the Secret Place, “Powerful things happen inside you when you spend time with God. When you’re in His presence for extended periods, the molecular composition of your soul gets restructured. You start to think differently, and you don’t even know why. You desires begin to change without even realizing it. God is changing you on the inside in ways you can’t cognitively analyze. All you know is, sinful affections that once pulled at your soul no longer have their former power over you.”

Stay at the table. Stay in communion with the Father.

We are always producing something and what we produce is determined by what we process.

Everywhere we go….

We Bring GP2RL Action Point: Rehearse God’s Word searching for a deeper sense of reflection than what you’ve known before.

Ephesians 4:22-24 Put off your old self which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. 26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
